Hi. Sam here again. You probably remember me: the Banana who travels to Tokyo “for research” and somehow always comes back with questionable souvenirs (yes, I brought Jack and John a pair of worn panties I got from a vending machine) and an even more questionable browser history. Last time I wrote about some of Japan’s most famous fetishes. Tentacles, Soaplands, tights, the classics. But Japan is a country that never stops inventing new kinks. Walk around Akihabara long enough and you’ll realize something important:

Tokyo creates fetishes. So during my latest research trip (which definitely counted as a business expense), I discovered a few more unusual Japanese fetish subcultures. Some of them are weird. Some are oddly creative. And a couple made me question humanity. Let’s go.

  1. Burusera Fetish Japanese: ブルセラ (Burusera)

Girl in a school uniform stands on a dimly lit street at night, illuminated by red lanterns and neon signs

During the 1990s, specialized Burusera shops appeared in Tokyo selling used clothing associated with school uniforms. The fetish quickly became controversial and was later restricted by authorities, but the aesthetic influence remained visible in Japanese fetish culture, cosplay, and adult media. Today the style survives mostly through photography, cosplay, and fetish themed products.

  1. Denma Fetish 電マ (Denma)

Woman in floral robe holding a yellow dildo, seated on a bed in dim light

Originally designed as a therapeutic massager, the Denma device became widely known in Japanese adult cinema where it often appears as a recognizable prop.

Because the device is legal and widely sold in Japan, it became a kind of cultural symbol within certain adult media genres.

Guys, you’ve all seen those videos where a hot MILF pleasures herself with that big wand with a round head (bigger than a regular vibrator) and it actually looks more like a massager. Well, that’s because it is a massager. Japan just turned it into a fetish.

I think the whole secret is in how powerful that device can be. The intensity is way stronger than a small vibrator, which means the reactions are bigger too.

  1. Train Fantasy Trope: Chikan (痴漢)

Crowded train interior with standing passengers, bright light from the window.

The word Chikan (痴漢) literally means molester and refers to a serious social issue in Japan’s crowded public transport systems. Because Tokyo trains are extremely crowded during rush hour, the topic became widely discussed in media and law enforcement campaigns. In fictional media and adult storytelling, the train setting sometimes appears as a dramatic narrative environment due to the confined space and anonymity of large crowds. Japanese rail companies even introduced women only train cars to help address harassment issues.

You know, personally I think perverts like this exist anywhere there’s crowded public transport. These are the types who constantly rub up against people on a tram or train. But in Japan it seems to have reached another level. Things like this even happen in bicycle parking areas.

The pervert waits until the victim approaches their bike and bends down to unlock it, and at that moment he tries to grope her. It should be clearly said that this is a criminal offense in Japan and not only in Japan.

But in the world of porn tubes, of course, this scenario gets exploited, and you can find plenty of content under tags like Chikan (痴漢) or Tosatsu.

You can even find official guides on how to behave on public transport in Japan if you become a victim of chikan or tosatsu (we’ll talk about this separately). Personally, I never witnessed anything like that on public transport in Japan while I was there on business. But according to official data, this problem still exists.

The issue has become so widely discussed that even the BBC has produced investigations about it.

  1. Glass Table Cinematic Trope ガラステーブル (Garasu Tēburu)

Woman sitting cross-legged on illuminated glass floor in a modern, concrete setting.

This visual trope became known through Japanese adult cinema where directors experimented with unusual camera angles. Using transparent surfaces allowed filmmakers to capture unique (yeah, you can see perspectives while working within censorship restrictions. The technique became recognizable among fans of Japanese AV production.

Yes, you can actually see the little mollusk on the glass… lol. Basically, the whole idea is that a girl sits on a glass surface while a camera films from below. Anyway, I recommend checking it out.

But why did this turn into a fetish? That’s a personal matter, everyone has their own reasons for watching this kind of content. At Banana Collection, we don’t argue about tastes. What I mean is that this fetish has its own search demand, its own audience, and you can find it on almost any free porn tube site.

  1. Nose Hook BDSM Aesthetic: 鼻フック (Hana Fukku)

A woman with a bob haircut holds a red umbrella, casting shadows on her face. Her expression is serene, with bold red lipstick.

Hana Fukku (鼻フック) literally means “nose hook”. This visual element occasionally appears in niche BDSM photography and fetish art in Japan. The imagery connects with Japan’s long tradition of stylized bondage aesthetics and performance art.

In short, my bananas, this is definitely one of those fetishes that gives you mixed feelings. It looks very unusual: these hooks attach to the nose, and ropes from them run over the head. The girl ends up looking a bit like a piglet with a little snout.

Anyway, this fetish definitely deserves the title of one of the strangest fetishes in our porn collection.

  1. Ashikoki 足コキ (Ashikoki)

Woman in sheer blouse and stockings sits on a chair, sunlight casting shadows.

Ashikoki (足コキ) literally translates to foot stimulation. The term combines:

  • 足 (ashi) — foot

  • コキ (koki) — slang used in Japanese adult terminology for manual stimulation

In the Japanese AV industry, Ashikoki refers to a fetish category (in our case porn category) centered around stimulation using the feet. 🦶 The niche is closely connected to Japan’s broader fascination with legs (yaeh, they really love it), stockings, and footwear aesthetics, which appear frequently in Japanese fashion industry, gravure magazines, and porn industry.

Because of this strong visual culture around legs and hosiery, Ashikoki became a popular category within Japanese adult entertainment and worldwide. Scenes often emphasize stockings, high heels, and turning the act into a stylized visual theme rather than simply a physical interaction. Today, Ashikoki is considered one of the classic Japanese fetish tags (or porn genre) across many free porn tube site and premium tube sites.

Anyway, personally I’ve seen this whole foot culture in Japan myself. You can easily notice it just by walking down the street, look at the people, the advertising, the fashion around you. Japanese girls often wear stockings and skirts and somehow turn it into something that feels almost like art or fashion. We actually wrote about this fetish in more detail here: 10 Unexpected Japanese Fetishes Explored in Sam’s Tokyo Field Notes

Long story short, there’s no exact record of where the foot fetish originally started. But one thing we can definitely say is that Japan turned it into a clearly defined fetish — describing it, popularizing it, and even creating its own “standards” and categories around it.

  1. Tamakeri. 玉蹴り (Tamakeri)

Two martial artists stand in silhouette against a red background, wearing traditional uniforms

Japanese:  Tamakeri (玉蹴り) literally means ball kicking.

The word is composed of:

  • 玉 (tama) - slang for testicles

  • 蹴り (keri) - kicking

It refers to a porn fetish in Japanese BDSM culture where impact to the groin area is part of dominance play (kind of). Although it sounds extreme, tamakeri is usually presented in staged fetish videos or performance scenarios. The fetish gained visibility online through Japanese fetish studios and later spread to Western audiences.

Tamakeri is definitely what we call ballbusting, or simply BB (those who know, know). This fetish started gaining popularity in the early 1990s and continued developing and shaping itself until around the mid-2010s. You know, Tamakeri and porn category were largely built by individuals rather than studios. Many of the earliest videos that appeared were low-quality recordings, almost always amateur, and the women often wore masks. Today, however, you can also find this type of content produced by professional studios. Sam verdict

Japan invented an entire genre based on the one place every guy instinctively protects.

  1. Innyuu / Hinnyuu Fetish

Anime character with short black hair, wearing a yellow polka dot shirt.

Hinnyuu (貧乳) literally means small breasts. In Japanese media this term describes a preference for petite body types with very small chests. The aesthetic appears frequently in anime, manga, hentai and adult media.

Interestingly, Japanese pop culture often contrasts two archetypes:

  • 巨乳 (Kyonyuu) - large breasts

  • 貧乳 (Hinnyuu) - small breasts

Both have dedicated fanbases.

In anime character design, the hinnyuu archetype is often associated with youthful or athletic characters, which influenced its popularity in visual media.

Tamakeri got so famous that it eventually caught the attention of actual scientists. Yes, real scientists. Not bloggers, not weird forum guys, scientists.

At some point someone in a lab coat looked at this Japanese fetish and thought, You know what? This deserves a research paper. And they actually wrote one. In a study titled The Dermatological Appearance of a Japanese Paraphilia: Tamakeri researchers describe tamakeri as a Japanese paraphilia involving injury or stimulation of the testicles. So congratulations, this fetish officially made the jump from underground videos to academic literature. PMID: 28317108 DOI: 10.1111/ijd.13606

  1. Gyaku-Anaru 逆アナル (Gyaku Anaru)

Two animated characters with intense expressions are dramatically lit in red and shadow.

Gyaku (逆) means reverse.

So Gyaku-Anaru (逆アナル) translates roughly to reverse anal.

The term is used in certain Japanese fetish communities to describe scenarios where traditional gender roles in dominance are reversed. It fits within Japan’s broader interest in role-reversal fantasies and playful power dynamics.

Like many Japanese fetish categories, the appeal often comes from the unexpected role inversion rather than explicit action.

Sam verdict Japan loves flipping expectations. Sometimes literally.

Final thoughts

From ashikoki (足コキ) to hinnyuu (貧乳) and tamakeri (玉蹴り), Japan keeps inventing new corners of adult culture the rest of the world eventually discovers years later.

And if you’re wondering which sites actually host these fetishes without drowning you in ads, fake players, or endless pop-ups, that’s exactly why we publish our Banana Collection reviews.

If you want to explore more unusual niches like these, check out the Banana Collection Pornopedia, where we break down the history and meaning behind different fetish categories.

Yes, Japan really does feel like another planet sometimes: a place that keeps enriching global culture in countless ways. From technology and design to fashion, anime, and pop culture, the country constantly creates ideas the rest of the world eventually adopts. And honestly, when it comes to inventing, shaping, and exporting unusual fetish ideas… Japan might just be doing it better than anyone else in the world.
