Transgender

Definition

Transgender porn refers to adult content featuring transgender performers or trans models. In most adult platforms (ussually it means free porn tube sites or live sex cam sites) , the category primarily centers around trans women. However, it is not limited to them. On many major tube sites and cam platforms, users can also find content featuring trans men.

Trans vs TS vs Legacy Terminology

TS is a somewhat outdated abbreviation that is mostly used within the adult industry or entertainment environments such as live cam platforms. In broader and more modern usage, the terms trans or transgender are more commonly used.

Ladyboy has a narrower meaning and is typically used when referring specifically to Thai transgender women or Thai content. The term is strongly associated with Thailand. The Banana Collection team has visited Thailand multiple times and can confirm that the word is commonly used locally and is generally not considered offensive there, as many people in the community use the term to describe themselves.

Shemale is a rough and outdated term that may be considered offensive to transgender performers. While you can still find videos with this label on many large tube sites, platform filters and category systems today are usually structured around terms such as trans or transgender.

For a breakdown of legacy terminology, see:  Shemale Meaning.

Pre-Op, Post-Op and Other Labels in Porn Categories

  1. Pre-op (pre-operative) generally refers to a transgender performer who has not undergone genital gender-affirming surgery.

  2. Post-op (post-operative) refers to performers who have undergone gender-affirming surgical procedures.

  3. Non-op is used for transgender individuals who do not pursue surgical transition.

Organizations such as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health publish medical guidelines for gender-affirming care. These decisions are highly personal and medically complex — far beyond the simple tags used to organize adult content online.

Cultural Visibility & Mainstream Awareness

The visibility of transgender individuals in mainstream culture has expanded significantly over the past two decades. Public figures such as:

have contributed to broader awareness of transgender issues in media and public discourse. In entertainment, modeling, media, movies, pop culture trans performers have also gained recognition in fashion and pageantry contexts. Events such as:

highlight transgender beauty competitions that attract international attention and media coverage.

In adult entertainment specifically, certain transgender performers have built strong personal brands across cam platforms, subscription services, and studio productions, blending adult industry visibility with influencer-style presence.

You might be surprised, but there are even Gay Olympics, which have been held since 1982. These games actively welcome gender diversity, and participants, including transgender people:  lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) athletes, artists can take part and experience the true spirit of competition.

Despite the name sounding a bit playful at first, the event itself is actually quite serious and well organized. And do you know who runs these games? Of course, the Federation of Gay Games.

An interesting fact: although the event was originally called the Gay Olympics, today the official name used is Gay Games.

Some of these names became influential figures not only on set, sometimes literally surrounded by bananas  🍌🍌🍌,  but also in other areas such as activism, media, law, and mainstream entertainment industry. Over time, several transgender performers/ models/ trans models and public figures have become popular personalities or cultural icons within LGBTQ+ communities and beyond.

Bailey Jay (aka  B.J., Lola, Harley Quinn, Bailey Slay, Line Trap)

Bailey Jay is one of the most recognizable transgender models of the late 2000s. Her popularity coincided with the rise of porn tube sites and online distribution, helping bring trans adult content to a much wider global audience. It make sense to check it 😉.

Buck Angel

Buck Angel is one of the most influential transgender figures connected to the adult industry. As a transgender man working in adult film and media, he gained international recognition in the early 2000s and later became a public speaker and advocate for transgender community.

Sasha Colby
Sasha Colby is a well-known transgender model and entertainer  who gained international recognition after winning RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 15. Although primarily known for drag and performance art, she has played an important role in increasing transgender visibility in entertainment and LGBTQ+ culture.

Ts Madison

Ts Madison gained fame through viral internet videos before building a career that crossed adult entertainment, reality television, and mainstream media. She later became the first Black transgender woman to star in and executive-produce her own reality TV show.

Trends

You know, guys, I think this transgender porn category has gone through the same stages of development and public perception as many other social spheres: like sports, movies, or fashion.

At first, it was just a few scattered videos on an entire porn tube site. Then it became a separate page. After that, a full category. Later, dedicated studios. And eventually… well, even their own Olympic-style games. Lol.

Industry Specialization: Studios Focused on Trans Content

As the transgender category matured, certain adult studios began specializing almost exclusively in trans-focused productions rather than treating it as a subcategory.

One of the most historically recognized examples is:

  • Grooby Productions. Founded in the late 1990s, one of the earliest studios dedicated to transgender performers.

  • Trans500. An pretty old brand focused specifically on trans models and niche content.

  • Trans Angels. Founded in the late 2017.  Known for high-production-value transgender scenes. Under umbrella Aylo, parent company of PornHub. Yeah, Pornhub is like Google in the mainstream world: it’s everywhere. Big Brother is watching you. Quickly hide the banana back where you got it from. 🍌.

Transgender awards

We believe that to better understand how this porn category evolved, it is important to know that since 2007 an award ceremony called the Tranny Awards has been held. The awards were founded by Steven Grooby, with the original mission of bringing greater attention to the representation of transgender performers within the adult industry and recognizing their presence in award culture.

This is a good example of how the genre has evolved over time. Today, the event is known as the Transgender Erotica Awards, reflecting broader changes in language and industry terminology. Each year the ceremony celebrates performers and creators across numerous categories, including Best New Face, Best Solo Model, Best Hardcore Performer, Ms. Unique, and Best Internet Personality, among many others. Some nominations are sponsored by individual studios or companies. For example, categories such as Best Girl/Girl Scene may be sponsored by brands like TGirl Nights, while awards such as Model of the Year have been associated with major platforms like Pornhub.

In other words, what originally started as a niche event focused on a specific segment of the industry has grown into a large and widely recognized ceremony within the adult entertainment world, a sign of how the category itself has developed over time. For those who enjoy evaluating other people’s bananas, you can explore the full lists of nominations, nominees, and winners from previous years. 🍌

We should also mention an organization widely recognized due to its highly visible public activities: the global Pride movement. The organization InterPride connects Pride organizers from around the world, helping them collaborate, exchange experience, and coordinate initiatives that support LGBTQ+ communities internationally. Through its network, local and regional Pride events are able to share resources, develop best practices, and increase the overall impact of Pride celebrations on a global scale.

Trends: From Taboo to Structured Category

Once upon a time this niche lived in the dark corners of the internet, hiding between questionable download links and mysterious forum threads. Today it sits proudly in the main navigation of almost every major adult platform. Here’s how that happened:

  • 📊 Platform Filters. Big porn tube sites eventually realized users were actively searching for trans content, so dedicated Trans or TS categories appeared.

  • 🎥 Specialized Studios. What started as occasional scenes turned into full studios focusing entirely on trans models.

  • 📱 Direct-to-Fan Platforms
Subscription platforms changed the game. Many trans performers now run their own pages, control their content, and build loyal fanbases without needing a studio boss watching over the camera.

  • 🌍 Global Demand
Interest in this category isn’t limited to one region. From North America to Southeast Asia, Europe, and Latin America, the audience is surprisingly international. Turns out curiosity travels well across borders.
